
ADRC participated in the 4th meeting of the Technical Advisory Sub-Committee of the ASEAN Disaster Information Sharing and Communication Network Project which was jointly organized by ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN-US Technical Assistance and Training Facility and Pacific Disaster Center at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta Indonesia on 14-15 April 2009.
In the meeting, the participants including representatives from ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN-US Technical Assistance and Training Facility , Pacific Disaster Center, Republic of Singapore, Kingdom of Cambodia and Republic of the Philippines discussed information and communication technologies (ICT) gaps of AHA center, ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management, which is expected to play a critical role in collecting and analyzing disaster information and coordinating humanitarian assistance for emergency situations in ASEAN region.
ADRC made presentation on the interim review and project implementation plan for the fiscal year 2009 of web-based GLIDE associated disaster database development project, which is financially supported by Japan ASEAN Integration Fund and has been implemented by ADRC since 2008 to help 10 ASEAN member countries develop their own national disaster databases with GLIDE numbers. The next meeting is scheduled on the 3rd week of August to discuss technical issues on national disaster databases.
