The Fourth ADRC Online DRR Seminar Held

The Asian Disaster Reduction Center held the fourth ADRC Online DRR Seminar on 28 September 2021.

This seminar was attended by 88 participation from all over the world with the theme of "GLOF Impact to the Local Economy and Measures."

The seminar invited two experts from the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) to share their knowledge, experience, and programs on sudden Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF).

The Third ADRC Online DRR Seminar Held

The Asian Disaster Reduction Center held the third ADRC Online DRR Seminar on 14 September 2021.

This seminar was attended by 116 participations from all over the world with the theme of "Developing DRR Technologies that Meet Local Needs to Build a Safe, Secure, and Lively Society."

The seminar highlighted case studies of DRR investments made before disasters and other activities conducted in line with international standards, explained that standardization is important to keep methods simple, avoid useless operations, and facilitate smooth communication. and invited experts/practitioners to share their knowledge of experiences with the utilization of standardization for DRR, also presented related case studies.

International Online Conference: 5th Global Summit of GADRI: Engaging Sciences in Action

On 1 September 2021, ADRC participated in the 5th Global Summit of GADRI: Engaging Sciences in Action, which was organized by the Global Alliance of Disaster Research Institutes (GADRI) managed by Kyoto University. This conference was held in an online format, and research institutions and universities from around the world gave updates on their latest studies and ongoing projects. ADRC participated in the Group 2 Panel Discussion Session and gave a presentation on the utilization of space technology for DRR and good practices involving Sentinel Asia. In this presentation, ADRC suggested strengthening the networks between disaster management organizations and space agencies, and expanding the networks of research institutions to support Sentinel Asia.
