Outline A strong 7.7 magnitude earthquake has hit central Myanmar on 28 March 2025, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) says. The epicentre was located 16km (10 miles) north-west of Sagaing city and 19 km north-west of Mandalay city at a depth of 10km, according to USGS. The tremors were felt in China and Thailand.

UN OCHA and MSF report over 300 people still missing, some 3,900 injured, and more than 13,000 displaced across the country. More than 10,000 buildings collapsed or were severely damaged.
