2026/05/02 Philippines (the) : Volcano Mayon Volcano in Albay, Philippines emits a thick plume of ash following its eruption on May 2, 2026. Footage shows a dense column of grey ash rising above the ‘perfect cone', drifting across nearby areas. 2026/04/20 Japan : Earthquake A tsunami warning, with waves of up to 3 meters forecast, was issued Monday evening of 20 April 2026 for Iwate and Aomori prefectures and Hokkaido in northern Japan after a M7.5 (later modified to M7.7) powerful quake struck off the coast of Iwate. 2026/04/16 Thailand : Severe Local Storm Very strong winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms affected south-eastern Thailand (mainly the Nakhon Phanom, Ubon Ratchathani, Buriram and Sisaket provinces) and several provinces in the north-west of the country over 14-16 April 2026, causing a number of severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage. 2026/04/15 Viet Nam : Severe Local Storm Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds have been affecting northern Viet Nam over 15-19 April 2026, causing floods and several severe weather-related incidents (mainly due to the strong wind) that have resulted in casualties and damage. 2026/04/11 Papua New Guinea : Tropical Cyclone Over 10-11 April 2026, tropical cyclone MAILA continued moving very slowly over the Solomon Sea, causing very heavy rainfall, strong winds and consequent floods, landslides and severe weather-related incidents across eastern Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Media and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports, as of 13 April, 11 fatalities (of whom eight are due to a landslide), seven still missing persons, an uncertain number of displaced people.
