The Ministry of Civil Affairs (MoCA) put into immediate effect national contingency and relief plans and sent response teams to the affected areas to assess the damage and guide the relief operation. The MoCA secured 6,300 tents and delivered 3,000 tents by the following morning. The remaining tents were shipped by Sunday evening, 27 November. The MoCA and the Ministry of Finance also have allocated CNY 10 million (approximately USD 1.24 million) from the emergency relief fund to Jiangxi Province.

According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the earthquake has killed 13 persons and wounded 80,000. So far 18,000 houses have collapsed and 15,000 houses have been damaged. The Ministry has sent a team of emergency managers to the affected areas this afternoon and secured 1,000 winter tents.
