Outline While states in eastern and northeastern India are enduring floods, many others are hit by drought. The Government of India (GOI) has declared 13 out of Indian's 29 states drought-stricken. The drought situation is serious in the northern states, especially in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
