Five people were killed and a child was critically injured when a powerful earthquake struck off the coast of northern Indonesia on Wednesday, the country\'s disaster mitigation agency said on Thursday (12 April 2012).
Four people were slightly injured on Simeulue Island, off the coast of Aceh, the National Disaster Management Agency said on 11 April.

The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) says small tsunamis reaching up to 80 centimeters high have hit Meulaboh and Sabang in Aceh. The agency has extended the tsunami warning for another two hours since the latest aftershock, of a magnitude of 8.1 (8.2 by USGS), struck at 5:43 p.m.
A tsunami warning was issued for the whole Indian Ocean.
