A series of three earthquakes killed two people on Russia's Pacific island of Sakhalin on Thursday, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.
A strong quake hit near Sakhalin island in Russia's Far East on 2 August 2007, reportedly killing one person and sending small tsunami waves to northern Japan.
A destructive earthquake killed at least one person and injured two others in Sakhalin on 2 August, 2007. The earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale occurred at 1:37 p.m. local time on Thursday, the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station told Interfax.
