The severe wildfires, which have still been affecting Canada since mid-May 2025, are spreading eastward to Ontario province, in south-western Canada, prompting evacuations and significant damage. According to media reports, as of 10 June, at least 3,000 residents are under evacuation order and about 1,000 people have been displaced in Sandy Lake First Nation, in the western part of northern Ontario province due to a wildfire that has burnt more than 158,000 ha in Sandy Lake First Nation.
