|Outline||On the morning of Thursday 4 March, 1999 an earthquake measuring 6.3 hit the south-eastern part of Iran.
The epicentre of the quake was in the district of Kahnooj in the Kerman province, 200 Km to the south of Kerman city.

|It appears that there have not been any loss of life.||524 houses are so far reported to be damaged. Of these 14 units are 100% damaged, with the rest estimated to be damaged between 20 and 80 percent.
||Heavy rains which have caused flood over the last few days in most of the southern part of Iran during the last three days are making relief work more difficult.|

|Kohkilojeh and Boyerahmad Province:five families were affected with two persons dead, one injured and some 80 livestock destroyed.
||Fars Province:16 residential units have been surrounded by flood waters and severe tropical winds have caused some destruction.
Kerman Province:after 38 millimetres of rainfall, the rural roads were washed away.
Khorasan Province:Electricity and telecommunications have been cut and some farms damaged by floods.
