    According to an update issued by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) on 16 January, 44 people have been confirmed dead as a result of the floods, with two missing. The floods have forced thousands of people to evacuate to safer places. In all, it is estimated that more than 1.6 million people have been affected by the floods and over 531,911 houses have been damaged.
