Outline 03 Moderate flood sites have been reported in Assam. 126 persons accommodated in the relief camps. i) River Kushiyara at Karimganj, District- Karimganj, Assam is flowing at 15.8 m against danger level 14.94 m with Rising Trend. ii) River Katakhal at Matizuri, District-Hailakandi, Assam is flowing at 20.9 m against danger level 20.27 m with Rising Trend. iii) River Brahmaputra at Neamatighat, District- Jorhat, Assam is flowing at 85.27 m against danger level 85.04 m with Rising Trend.

The flood situation in Assam continues to deteriorate with 486,726 people affected in 1096 villages of 15 districts in the state as on 10.07. The districts of Lakhimpur and Karimganj remain the worst affected. As per the daily update of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 90 relief camps are operational with 17,744 people staying in these camps. Further 91 relief distribution points have also been opened up to deal with the crisis. Media reports indicate that the death toll has increased to 22 as of 9 July.

Severe weather, including thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds, continues to affect the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland, causing floods. According to local media, as of 16 June at 7:00 UTC, at least 14 people died in Assam and Mizoram States. Assam National authorities mentioned that over 18,000 people were affected in four districts.

Severe weather, including heavy rain and thunderstorms has been affecting areas of the Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and Jharkhand states of India in the past days. According to local media, as of 7 May at 7.00 UTC, six people died, of which two by floods in Phek district (Nagaland State) and four more in Giridih district (Jharkhand State) due to lightening strikes. According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority, as of 7 June at 7.00 UTC, over 100 000 people are affected by floods in Assam. Over the next 24h, moderate to locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect the northern, northeastern, central and eastern states.
