The Ministry of Civil Affairs on Thursday said heavy rains have left 34 people dead and another 21 missing in south China. Severe rainfall and ensuing floods have hit the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Anhui and the municipality of Chongqing since July 10, affecting more than 8.82 million people, said the ministry.
Continuous rainstorms have battered several provinces in China this week, killing at least 18 people and affecting several million.
Heavy rains have left seven people dead and another seven missing in central China\'s Hunan Province and southwest China\'s Guizhou as of 4 p.m. 16 July 2014. More than 13,000 houses have been destroyed and 21,200 hectares of crops are unharvestable in the two provinces.
Rainstorms lashed Hunan Province and Guizhou Province on 14 and 15 July 2014, affecting over 1 million people.
About 128,000 people in the county have been affected by the flooding, according to the county government.
