The affected area has increased reaching now 15 departments of Guatemala. There was a continuous increase in the number of affected communities, dwellings, families, and individuals in the country. Because of the significant increase of the quantity of affected and sheltered persons, as well as the number of the basic community services damaged, authorities expect a considerable grow of the support needs.

As of 7 October, more than 44,000 people were affected by the situation. According to oficial reports, there are at least 134 deaths. It was not clear how many victims were under the debris of several mudslides. Over 51,000 people are currently in shelters. There are at least 182 communities affected by the disaster.
