Outline Hurricane Ivan has killed at least two people in Jamaica and the death toll is expected to rise as the storm pounds the island with 240 kilometers per hour winds and heavy rains. So far more than 40 people have been killed by the storm as it continues its path through the Caribbean.

OCHA Situation Report No. 6
It was possible to determine that coastal villages along the south cost of Jamaica have been severely affected. The village of Old Harbor Bay (in the St Catherine parish) has been completely destroyed by storm surges and winds. Mitchell Town, Portland Cottage and Rocky Point (Clarendon), suffered some eighty to ninety percent damage. In Portland Cottage, eight deaths have been reported.
