Outline On January 13, at around 11:35 (17:35GMT), the magnitude 7.6 earthquake hit El Salvador, Central America. At least 270 are known to have died, and about 1,200 are missing.

OCHA Situation Report No.6
According to the National Emergency Committee (COEN), the death toll is now at 609, with 2,412 people missing and 25,195 evacuated. More than 46,000 houses have been damaged or destroyed.
