    A tornado destroyed some P4 million worth of agricultural products when it hit a remote village in Tampakan, South Cotabato on Saturday. Luisito Reina, chair of Barangay Bukang Liwayway, said heavy rains with strong winds first flattened some 25,000 hectares of banana trees and other crops at about 7 p.m. Then a spiraling wind followed, uprooting banana trees.

    Leonardo Espina, police chief in northern Pampanga province, said a woman died of a heart attack as strong winds uprooted trees and lifted galvanised iron roofs off houses in her village. Around 70 homes were destroyed and power was cut for three hours.
