Indonesia:Flood:2023/01/21

Duration2023/01/21 Disaster authorities in Indonesia report severe flooding and landslides in areas of Sumatra island which began after heavy rainfall on 21 January 2023. As of 24 January 2023, almost 100,000 people and 15,000 homes have been affected. Three fatalities were reported.

    The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 24 January, two fatalities, five injured people, around 3,750 evacuated people and approximately 150 damaged buildings (of which 30 schools) across the Padang Pariaman Regency (West Sumatra Province) due to landslides and floods. A total of 7,500 affected people were reported. In the nearby Aceh Province (northern Sumatra), ADINet and BNPB report more than 10,400 evacuated people.
