    On 1 April 2017 heavy rains during the early morning hours (local time) in Mocoa (Putumayo Department) generated an increase in water levels of three rivers triggering a major landslide with mud and rocks. According to the National Risk Management Unit (UNGRD) the landslide caused the death of 193 people, local media also reports up to 300 people injured and the IFRC a further 220 missing.
