    Four people were killed and more than 800,000 affected by heavy rainstorms that battered south Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on 20 May, the local civil affairs authority announced 24 May.
    As of 4:30 p.m. 24 May, about 40,000 people from nine cities had been evacuated and 60,000 hectares of crops were affected by the rainstorms. More than 2,000 houses collapsed and over 10,000 were damaged.

    Almost three million people from 11 provinces have been affected by heavy rain that has battered China\'s south since Wednesday, 13 May. Authorities have relocated some 38,000 people, and 35,000 are still in urgent need of relief.
