Papua New Guinea:Flood:2014/06

Duration2014/06 Flooding was reported in the Gulf province, Papua New Guinea following continuous heavy rains during the month of June, 21014. Some 27,000 people have been affected in the province.

    Approximately 4,000 households (27,017 people) have been affected. No casualties have been reported. 37 houses and food gardens were washed away. Water sources were polluted by chemicals from the drilling areas. Shelters and food are needed for the most affected people in Baimuru (11,369 people).

    Continuous rains in Hela and southern highland provinces have caused landslides. At least 10 landslips were reported in different areas along the
    highland highway, which caused heavy traffic and havoc. Around 300,000 people have been estimated to be affected due to highway cut offs.
