Monitoring and Forecast of Emergencies operated by Agency on Monitoring and Forecasting of Emergency Situations, EMERCOM of Russia

The student will gain knowledge and practical experience in:
- Monitoring and, forecast of emergency situations;
- Monitoring of seismic and geological hazards;
- Monitoring of flood hazards;
- Monitoring of lightning discharges and hurricane hazards;
- Monitoring of forest fire hazards;
- Specific features of GIS projects designed for forecasting natural and technological emergencies;
- Forecast of seismic hazard and impacts of large earthquakes, as well as identification of effective response scenarios using GIS technologies;
- Forecast of flood hazard and its consequences, as well as identification of effective response scenarios using GIS technologies;
- Forecast of forest fire hazard and their consequences, as well as identification of effective response scenarios using GIS technologies;
- Monitoring and forecast of damage to and collapse of buildings and structures;
- Monitoring and forecast of natural and technological risks;
- Application mobile diagnostic complexes for monitoring and forecast of damage to and collapse of buildings and structures;
- Emergency monitoring and forecast in technological hazardous zones.
After completing the training course students gain knowledge and experience
on the basis of GIS application in:
- Development of emergency monitoring and forecast systems at state, regional and local levels;
- Assessment of social impact and damage to buildings and structures due to natural and technological disasters;
- Development of emergency response scenarios (computation of necessary means and resources, including food and other items for providing the population in affected areas).
