Monitoring and Forecast of Emergencies

The student will gain knowledge and practical experience in:
  • Monitoring and, forecast of emergency situations;
  • Monitoring of seismic and geological hazards;
  • Monitoring of flood hazards;
  • Monitoring of lightning discharges and hurricane hazards;
  • Monitoring of forest fire hazards;
  • Specific features of GIS projects designed for forecasting natural and technological emergencies;
  • Forecast of seismic hazard and impacts of large earthquakes, as well as identification of effective response scenarios using GIS technologies;
  • Forecast of flood hazard and its consequences, as well as identification of effective response scenarios using GIS technologies;
  • Forecast of forest fire hazard and their consequences, as well as identification of effective response scenarios using GIS technologies;
  • Monitoring and forecast of damage to and collapse of buildings and structures;
  • Monitoring and forecast of natural and technological risks;
  • Application mobile diagnostic complexes for monitoring and forecast of damage to and collapse of buildings and structures;
  • Emergency monitoring and forecast in technological hazardous zones.
After completing the training course students gain knowledge and experience on the basis of GIS application in:
  • Development of emergency monitoring and forecast systems at state, regional and local levels;
  • Assessment of social impact and damage to buildings and structures due to natural and technological disasters;
  • Development of emergency response scenarios (computation of necessary means and resources, including food and other items for providing the population in affected areas).
