Basics of Using Solar Energy in Disasters PVD-201 operated by Florida Solar Energy Center

The loss of electrical power impacts emergency management and disaster relief organization operations in response to and recovery from disasters. This workshop will present the history and experiences of using photovoltaics in disasters for response, recovery, and mitigation activities. The viability of various solar energy sources and their capability to satisfy energy needs will be reviewed. The benefits of solar energy for backup power for buildings as a means of establishing disaster resistant communities will be discussed. The operation and maintenance of photovoltaic systems will be presented.
