The course comprises two modules. The first provide the public health tools necessary for making appropriate decisions in emergency situations involving large populations. The next examine the health related issues that arise in humanitarian activities. It also observes the responsibilities and duties of health professionals which are the basis for decision making in humanitarian operations that respect the dignity of the victims they seek to assist. Specifically module 1 includes initial assessment and planning, food and nutrition and natural disasters and module 2 consists of medical ethics, dilemmas in humanitarian operations and health & human rights.
