Extensive research is performed using collected data from laboratory experiments and hydrological observations at experimental basins to develop mathematical methods for simulating rainfall-runoff phenomena in river basins. Coupling distributed hydrological (rainfall-runoff) models with hydraulic (sediment runoff, river flow and inundation) and coastal (tide, estuary and beach erosion) ones is focused on to construct a comprehensive simulation system in a whole river basin.
