Emergency management is a process that is increasingly being linked to a other areas of public policy and practice, including public and environmental health, sustainable development, land use planning and crime prevention. Local government, which is a key player in emergency management activities, is now being required to tie these different areas together. This course will, *explain the key emergency management principles and concepts *demonstrate an understanding of emergency risk management, as applied within communities *analyse the key issues in integrating emergency management with other areas of local government practice, and *identify strategies for linking emergency management with other areas of local government core business
