Californians recently found themselves confronted with the largest and most extensive flood disaster in California State history. Rivers from the Oregon border to the southern Sierra reached flood stages, some rivers exceeded channel capacities by as much as seven times their normal capacities. In some areas levied flood control systems were totally overwhelmed and damage amounts in those areas plus the cost to restore, rehabilitate flood damage properties are nearing $2 billion. CSTI's new flood course has been designed to present participants an overview of the many facets of flood disasters; hazard identification, planning and preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery. This comprehensive overview of flood disasters will enhance your general understanding of the flood disasters phenomenon thereby enabling you to be better prepared for the next inevitable flood event.
