EM 105 Multi-hazard Response

The necessity for governmental response to a wide variety of threats will be explored. Tools and planning approaches will show participants how to design a structure that can respond to specific incidents or combinations of incidents. Complex emergencies will be described, and the additional planning required to prepare for related hazards and their cumulative effect will be discussed. Hazards addressed include sudden onset, slow onset, industrial/technological, wars and civil strife and epidemics. Compound and complex disaster discussion will cover socio-political forces, displaced persons, the role of the United Nations, and safety and relief teams in conflict zones.
