The goals are to familiarise students with the roles and responsibilities of various public safety agencies and communities regarding emergency planning, to present methods of preparing various types of plans needed in emergency management, to examine the difference in planning needs based on when the planning is taking place, to demonstrate how post incident critiques are used to provide the information for future planning, to analyse emergency planning activities and determine how plans will work
