|Outline||An earthquake measured 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Mexico on 15 June 1999 at 15:42 hrs local time. The epicentre of the quake was about 200 kilometres southeast of Mexico City.

|Mexico quake kills 15|
|In the southern state of Guerrero, a woman died from a heart attack and in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, a farm laborer died in a landslide.
In Mexico City, two people died of heart attacks caused by shock due to the quake,
|In Puebla an apartment complex came crashing down.|
