An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale rocked the Indonesian island of Java on Saturday, 27 May, killing at least 1,300 people and injuring more than 2,000. The Indonesian Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have deployed disaster management and medical teams to the scene. Medical and relief supplies are also being sent to the quake zone.
