A typhoon that battered south and east China killed 23 people and left four missing, state media said on Friday.

Two children were among the dead, as Typhoon Chanchu pounded the coast after making landfall between Guangdong and Fujian provinces. More than 900,000 people have been moved out of the path of the storm, Xinhua news agency said.
