Typhoon Matmo has claimed 13 lives in China and affected about 2.5 million residents, the Ministry of Civil Affairs announced on 27 July 2014.
Two people were killed and another two were missing as the impact of typhoon Matmo extends to the provinces of Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong and Guangdong. More than one million people in the six provinces had been affected by the typhoon, with 251,000 relocated.
As of 7 p.m., heavy rain had affected 10,750 residents in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi province with one death and two people missing, and 87 houses toppled. In east China\'s Zhejiang Province, Matmo has caused economic losses of 27.9 million yuan (about 4.5 million U.S. dollars) and forced more than 50,000 residents to relocate
A total of 296,804 people were evacuated by 3 p.m. in Fujian province.
