Outline 4,000 Evacuated, 1 Dead, 2 Missing. Huge amounts of rainfall in parts of Taiwan on 02 June resulted in major flooding and mudslides in northern areas of the country. Some areas of New Taipei City recorded more than 600 mm of rain in under 12 hours.

Torrential rain to continue lashing 19 cities and counties in Taiwan. Nantou and Kaohsiung to close some schools and offices 5 June. The previous days of extreme rain caused bridges and roads to collapse and streets to flood from the north coast in New Taipei and Keelung to Pingtung at Taiwan’s southern tip.

The fatality occurred in the Bali District of New Taipei City, one of the worst hit areas, when a woman on a motorcycle was swept away by flood water. Two people, one in New Taipei City and the other in Keelung, are missing after being swept away by flood water.
