Close to 150,000 people affected by heavy flooding across Sudan. Initial estimates are that at least 26,000 houses have been damaged or destroyed.

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and the Commission for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work (CVHW) report that an estimated 98,500 people have been affected by heavy rain and flash floods between 1 and 4 August. The flash floods have killed 11 people and destroyed or damaged more than 14,000 houses in the states affected.

Rains and floods also swept through large areas of Wadi Halfa and Merowe localities in north Sudan which led to the collapse of more than 200 houses there.
