Outline On September 18, 2011, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck isolated Himalayan regions in India, Nepal and Tibet. At least 18 people were killed.
The worst affected area was the northern Indian state of Sikkim, the epicentre of the quake where at least 18 people have been killed.
