2024/03/07 Indonesia Flood Ten residents were found dead as a result of the flood and landslide disaster in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province, Wednesday, 9 March 2024. A total of 8 people were declared missing in Koto XI Tarusan District, and 2 others were in Sutera District and Lengayang District. Meanwhile, 46,000 people had to evacuate due to the floods and landslides. 2024/02/06 Philippines (the) Landslide On 6 February 2024, a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall occured in Maco Municipality in Davao de Oro Province, Mindanao Island, southern Philippines, resulting in casualties and damage. According to media reports, at least 5 people died and 31 have been injured due to a landslide that hit three passenger buses. 2024/02/02 Chile Wild Fire Firefighters in central Chile on Sunday, 4 February 2024, battled to quell fierce forest fires that have killed 112 people so far and razed entire neighborhoods, while President Gabriel Boric warned the country faces a "tragedy of very great magnitude". The fires that gathered momentum on Friday now menaced the outer edges of Vina del Mar and Valparaiso, two coastal cities popular with tourists. 2024/01/22 China Landslide A landslide in Yunnan province of China killed two people on Monday 22 January 2024 with dozens missing as rescue operations are underway in snowy sub-zero weather. 2024/01/19 Philippines (the) Landslide According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) of the Philippines reports dated 17-18 Jan 2024, Caraga and Davao Regions in Eastern Mindanao have been experiencing rains and thunderstorms since 16 January 2024 due to the shear line. According to media, at least seven people died and ten others are still missing following a landslide that occurred in Davao de Oro Province, Davao Region, south-eastern Mindanao.

The Thoughts of ADRC

ADRC was founded in 1998 in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture.
The mission is to enhance disaster resilience of its member countries, to create safe communities where people can live with peace of mind, and to create a society that enables sustainable development.
For the purpose, the ADRC is promoting the establishment of multilateral networks through personnel exchanges and a variety of other programs for disaster risk reduction in Asia.
